1:1 Coaching
For writers who want to get better at writing
Does This Sound Like You?
You love writing. You’ve wanted to write since you were a kid, and you want to get better. So you put words on the page, then ask the people around you for their thoughts. Maybe it’s a family member, or beta readers, or critique partners. But the feedback you get isn’t actually helpful. Maybe it’s contradictory. Your thriller friend thinks you need to make your story more intense, but your rom-com critique partner thinks you already have too much action.
You don’t know how to appease both, but you try your best. You revise based on feedback and opinions, but when you send the pages back out, you keep getting “meh” responses. So you can’t help but wonder if you’re actually getting any better or just spinning your wheels.
Here’s The Solution
You need to learn how to improve at writing. The best way to do that is by having a developmental editor train you. Think of it like a personal trainer at a gym.
You come to me with your writing goals, and I figure out which skills you’re lacking and need to improve to reach them. That could mean learning to build strong scene structure, write compelling dialogue, or escalate conflict. Whatever specific skill you need to work on, we’ll focus on it.
By the end, you’ll be a stronger writer, so you can take these skills and apply them to ALL the stories you work on.
What’s Included?
We work together for 3 months, structured like this:
You submit a writing sample so I can see where your skills stand.
I draft a learning plan based on what needs the most work.
We hop on a call to talk through what you want to improve and what's holding you back.
Then, each week after that, you turn in a scene (up to 3k words).
I read it, leave inline comments, and send it back.
We get on a call to walk through the notes and talk about what to focus on next.
You either revise that scene or move on to a new one — whichever will teach you more.
Repeat steps 4-7.
Think of it like reps at the gym. You build the skill by doing the work, over and over, until it sticks.
