What is Scene Stormers?

Scene Stormers is a scene writing workshop for fiction writers. We teach writers how to write scenes with purpose and narrative drive. Co-founded by four developmental editors and me, we bring our collective experience into six focused workshop sessions. 

Together, we’ll dig into structure, plot, reader engagement, and other must-haves. Each one with practical guidance so every scene matters.

  • Kallista Ann

    CO-FOUNDER

    Kallista Ann is a developmental editor and book coach who helps romance, horror, and fantasy writers create stories they are proud of. She does that through editorial feedback and guiding writers in skill-building. She’s certified with Author Accelerator. When not editing, she’s a chess enthusiast and a musical theatre nerd.

  • Dave Reed

    CO-FOUNDER

    Dave Reed, the Book Shaman™, is a full-time developmental editor, book coach, and an award-winning author of fantasy and science fiction from Georgetown, Texas. He has been editing fiction and coaching writers professionally since 2019. His core belief is Better stories make better people.™.

  • Julia Blair

    CO-FOUNDER

    Julia Blair believes good writers are made, not born. A developmental editor and story coach with more than a decade of experience, she loves untangling plot knots, asking inconvenient questions, and helping writers discover the story they were trying to tell all along.

  • Ben Stadig

    CO-FOUNDER

    Ben Stadig is a Connecticut-based writer and developmental editor passionate about helping other writers improve their craft. After majoring in journalism and working for regional newspapers and public radio, he pursued a career in advertising and marketing before transitioning to focus on writing and editing full-time.

  • Allison Fairhurst

    CO-FOUNDER

    Allison Fairhurst studied Literature and Creative Writing before certifying as a developmental editor and coach. Her favourite books contain some level of the uncanny; elements of fantasy, of the supernatural, paired with a romantic or friendship bond. Allison’s goal is to help authors tell stories in an organic, structured way.

How It Works

Each workshop is held live on Zoom, with opportunities for quick, personalized feedback to help you put what you’re learning into practice. Workshops open seasonally, with just 20 seats available per session to keep the experience personal and interactive.
